The sci-fi drama will return for a second season.
April 12, 2023
Syfy announced today that The Ark has been renewed for Season 2. The early pickup comes with two episodes remaining in the sci-fi drama's 12-episode freshman run. A new episode airs tonight ahead of the season finale next Wednesday.
"We couldn't be more excited to get back into space with the crew of the Ark," creators Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner said in a joint statement. "Syfy continues to be an amazing partner and home for this series."
Set 100 years in the future, The Ark follows mankind starting planetary colonization missions as a necessity to help secure the survival of the human race. The first mission utilizes a spacecraft known as Ark One, but it encounters a catastrophic event that causes mass destruction and loss of life. With over a year left to go before reaching their target planet, the remaining crew must find a way to stay on course while dealing with a lack of life-sustaining supplies and loss of leadership.
Look for Season 2 of The Ark in 2024.

Just about what you expect from SyFy. It's a low-budget SF series that retreads other shows. What a mess.

Decent show so far, the CGI is pretty basic though but hopefully in the next season they can improve on that. Story I am enjoying so far though.

I am in the majority here. It started kinda cheesy but it grew on me as the season went on and now I am hooked. Yes, it is low budget, but as others have said, just relax and enjoy the ride. It is fresh and entertaining. It certainly beats any of the reality shows.

It's cheap, there's Babylon 5 type cgi, acting can be wooden in places but I like it, there's a freshness to it being unknowns, the main storyline is cogent and there's no high expectations other than 45 mins of easy escapism so yeah, I'm in for S2.

Look I admit I thought this sucked after the first episode even the second then stopped watching. Then gave it another crack and binged watched episodes 1 thru 8 found myself really getting into the story.. Is it a must watch no but its better than reality tv and something I can watch without having to think to hard about it. Glad to see it got a second season will be interesting to see the route they take with the story

On second thought, of course it got renewed. Its low budget, low effort, unknown actors, which means they can expect half the viewership numbers as shows with good writers, production quality and better actors, and hit those numbers easily.
I stopped watching somewhere in the middle of episode 4. Some characters are annoying, there is blatant disregard for basic laws of physics, and its a bit too chaotic.
To those who like it, no shade, enjoy!
