No Season 2 for the Hilary Swank drama.

Word is out that Alaska Daily has been cancelled by ABC after one season. Coming six weeks after its freshman finale, the news is not surprising as the drama struggled to find a sizeable audience over the course of its 11-episode run.
The series stars Hilary Swank as Eileen Fitzgerald, a recently disgraced reporter from New York who leaves her high-profile career behind looking for a fresh start at a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage, Alaska. There, she begins a journey to find personal and professional redemption.

What the heck is going on with the stations these days? They pass over decent shows that have a reason to stay on air, and they replace them with junk like the housewives of anywhere or crap like Farmers looking for love? It’s so embarrassing to see minds not being used! I’m so sad and disappointed with the world today.

This was such a great show. So sorry to see it cancelled. It’s so unfortunate the major networks keep pulling this kind of stuff. We are seeing a continuation of the dumbing down of America. I can’t believe the trash that is still out there. There are some of us who appreciate shows that make us think. Television, in general, has become a cesspool. But, I guess that’s what our country wants. If we can’t think, then we can be more easily manipulated, and led to wherever they choose for us to go. I never thought I would be so cynical about this country. It’s being destroyed, like a cancer, from within.

Alaska Daily had so much depth, in the story, and characters who made a great work family.
Alaska was one of the few shows that the entire family could watch together.
Lou Grant lasted five seasons, and was not as good as Alaska Daily. I also hope some other network or streaming platform picks up Alaska Daily like they did with Last Man Standing.

The show was excellent in that it reflected real life in an intelligent way: Indigenous women’s stories being stifled and a slowly-shrinking newspaper with dedicated journalists.

I'm really sorry to see this show go. The acting and message is top-notch. I any show deserves another chance, Alaska Daily is the one!

I think one of these comments hit it on the head. This show brought out beautifully how the killing of indigenous women is completely ignored by our Government. Hit too close to home.
