Word is out that A Black Lady Sketch Show has come to an end on HBO and will not be returning for a fifth season. The news comes less than two months after the acclaimed comedy wrapped its now-final six episode run. The show's social media pages posted a video compilation of scenes that was followed by a note thanking the fans.

"Thank you to all the immensely talented cast members, guest stars, writers, directors, editors and crew members who have made A Black Lady Sketch Show an Emmy-winning success," said creator, showrunner, writer, and star Robin Thede in a statement. "I especially want to recognize the Black women and other women of color who excelled in every department at ABLSS. I am also eternally grateful for the support of Issa Rae and Jax Media, Amy Gravitt, Casey Bloys and the entire team at HBO, Max and Warner Bros. Discovery."

Written by, directed by, and starring a core cast of African-American women, the comedy series features sketches that touch on current and culturally-relevant themes like social norms, religion, sex, and relationships.
