No Season 3 for the sequel series.

It is being reported that Hulu has cancelled How I Met Your Father after two seasons. The news comes less than two months after the comedy wrapped its sophomore run, which at 20 episodes was twice the length of its first season. Unfortunately for fans of the show, the identity of the father had not yet been revealed.
A standalone sequel to CBS' long-running hit 'How I Met Your Mother,' the show follows a woman named Sophie, played by Hilary Duff, in the future as she tells her son the story of how she met his father. The tale goes back to the year 2021, where Sophie and her close group of friends are trying to figure out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and endless options.

I forgot about sophies other romantic interest. the guy who showed back up near the end of the season.
That was a viable relationship.
per others thoughts: I think if we put 25-30 years between duff and our heroine from big trouble in little china...
it is reasonable to think that sophie young would have mellowed into sophie slightly older.
so it sounds like all of us who watched both series, we mostly want sophies roommate to marry the english guy, the bartender to possibly move on, and sophie to mellow.
grammer, spelling, capitilization left in place.
I'm a scientist, not an enlgish major.
Too bad.
I’ll admit I was out of it when I made my first comment. I meant to say that Kim and Hillary playing the same character at two different points were not good choices. It always felt like two completely different Sophies. Things that Kim’s older Sophie would say in reference to the time that was Hillary’s younger Sophie, didn’t always seem like they made sense. I’d have to go back and watch again to get specific examples but was definitely not dissing the actresses! Especially Hillary whom I’ve literally grown up with 20+ years now!
Honestly, I predicted the end game as being Sophie & Sid. The way the son talks and comments made by him started pulling me that way then in season two they started setting up Sid & Hannah’s relationship falling apart was all too obvious. All of that on top of 1) Sid was always a potential dad since the pilot, if he was going to be the “Marshall” of this version, they would have never even made him and option 2) referencing Charlie & Valentina eventually ending up together even though they were not together at that point in the show AND Charlie had been a potential dad before that point 3) they’ve never shown the son but ofc Sid was not the only potential “dad-of-color” so that could be a reason for others. I really looked forward to seeing that play out and the eventual Sid/Jesse dynamic that would come from it. I’ve seen worse shows with smaller fan bases saved so I’m not abandoning hope here yet!
The story line, how it progressed, the general characters were all fine. It was the poor acting of Catrall and Duff that brought the sow down.
Oh and they acting of the guy who played "Jessie". He was even worse. Much of the time I just wanted to slap him. But, he is EXACTLY the weak-willed, follow you around like a smothering puppy dog, type of guy women CLAIM they want.. it's never who they fall for, but it is what they CLAIM makes a good guy.
So the primary storyline was just filled with actors who are poor at their craft.
