The comedy will not return for Season 4.
September 29, 2023
It is being reported that ABC has cancelled Home Economics after three seasons. The comedy was one of two shows from the network's 2022-2023 lineup that was awaiting a renewal decision.
The half-hour series premiered in 2021 as a midseason entry with a short 7-episode order. Season 2 returned in the fall, and after a solid start it was quickly topped up to a full season of 22 episodes. Season 3 scaled back a bit to 13, airing its now-series finale back in January of this year.
Home Economics follows three adult siblings living very different lives. One is living comfortably as one of the 1%, one is part of the middle class, and the other is struggling to get by. Thus their complicated relationship can be heartwarming, super uncomfortable, and often frustrating.

Some viewers need laugh tracks to let them know when to laugh. One of the many qualities of this show is that it didn't have one and didn't need one.

I tried to watch it, but couldn't get into it. For one, I hated how the guys wife was supposed to be Latino and yet she looked whiter than him. The writers just made her speak Spanish words randomly to sell "diversity". Meanwhile they have the racist Mexican maid

.. never understood why this ever got a season 2. It was simply bad and unentertaining.

This show was hilarious and should not be taken off the air. ABC is making a big mistake but I'm sure that they were renew shows like the Connors.

I'm very disappointed. This was one of my favorite shows. I hope a streaming app picks it up.

I am a bit saddened by this news if only because the main story arc about Tom's book ending and the writers having to come up with new story lines. However, I felt it had a good run.
