NBC announced today that Law & Order has been picked up for Season 24. The news comes midway through the drama's current 23rd season.

The flagship series premiered in 1990, going on to air 456 episodes across 20 seasons before being cancelled in 2010. It became known for following a two-part format, with the first portion of each episode focused on the investigation of a crime, and the second portion detailing its prosecution. The show spawned a total of six spin-offs, two of which are currently on the air.

The network revived Law & Order for a 21st season in 2022, slotting it in as a midseason entry with a 10-episode run that was its shortest to-date. Season 22 saw it move to a regular fall premiere with a longer run, only to see Season 23 shortened to 13 episodes due to the writers strike.

Franchise mate 'Law & Order: SVU' was renewed today as well for the 2024-2025 season, though 'Law & Order: Organized Crime' is still in discussions for renewal.
