The franchise original is returning to television.
September 28, 2021
NBC is reviving a classic. The network announced today that Law & Order is coming back for a 21st season, with the news coming over 11 years after its series finale.
The flagship series premiered in 1990, going on to air 456 episodes across 20 seasons. It became known for following a two-part format, with the first portion of each episode focused on the investigation of a crime, and the second portion detailing its prosecution. The show has spawned a total of six spin-offs, two of which are currently on the air.
It is unclear if the revived Law & Order will premiere as a midseason entry during the current season, or if it will end up as a fall 2022 entry. When it does return, the show will continue where the original left off back in 2010. Official casting announcements have yet to be made.

Whether or not it will work depends on the casting and the stories. The L&O series always had great casting, but the stories got repetitive and turgid.
But this says NBC is settling. They're going with the tried and true even as streaming is trying new stuff. This is not the network of "ER" and "Hill Street Blues".

The only reason he got his show back is because he got woke. As the saying goes "Be woke and DON'T be broke." I don't think this will be much different from svu and isn't needed but I also understand how to change a channel.

I've started referring to Dick Wolf as Dick Woke. He's always sneaking in some political comments lately. Just stick to interesting stories and stop having an agenda Dickie.

Anyone who thinks Dick Wolf is purely liberal really isn't a fan of his shows. Jack McCoy is most def. a died in the wool liberal, but Arthur Branch (played by the late, great Fred Thompson) was a conservative as they get. I'm a liberal and loved Branch. He was old school and took no crap. The worst DA they had was Dianne Wiest's character...I might have shared her politics, but she was so bland and uninteresting.
Wolf is about telling stories, original Law and Order had some of the best, with characters from all sides of the political debate. That's what made the episodes so good.

This is great news. It will be neat to see how they continue it and who will return.

So, will Van Buren be back? I see she is getting sick on Chicago Med?
