The Tyler Perry sitcom will end its run after four years.
April 26, 2011
TBS has announced the cancellation of one Tyler Perry series just as another is set to begin. A press release for the upcoming dramedy For Better or Worse also states that House of Payne will end its successful run after four years.
"Even though it will be sad to say goodbye to House of Payne, I’m really looking forward to exploring new territory with For Better or Worse," said Perry. "Working on House of Payne taught me a lot about what it takes to make a successful television series and I’m looking forward to applying that experience to For Better or Worse."
House of Payne premiered on the network in June 2007 to what was, at the time, basic cable's biggest sitcom audience ever. It continued to remain popular throughout its run, ranking in television's Top 5 primetime sitcoms with African-American adults 18-34 and 18-49 as recently as the first quarter of this year.
No end date has been announced yet for the series finale.

Mr. Perry,
I'm very sad that house of payne is going to be cancelled. That was my favorite show. I followed you from the beginning with the plays and movies. You are my favorite actor. May God continue to bless you.

I wish this show was cancelled for real they should of cancelled the show FOR GOOD. COMPLETE EMBARRASSMENT towards all black people. This isnt supposed to be a family show if they show someone get shot, or be a severe drug addict thats too gruesome for a FAMILY tv show or ANY tv show. TBS is NOT a funny channel.

Mr.Perry, I'm deeply sadden to hear that the HOUSE OF PAYNE will end. We know good things must come to an end at some time. But please don't let it end on a sour note.Thank you for showing life storms, just happens, and it your Faith in God that bring in though.

It's a shame that the show we have come to love as one of family values and hope for all people not just black people, will end with the same old stereotypical picture of the black family. Black man shot and killed by another black man. What a sad way to end this great show.
I really wish the show would be reinstated.

That would be the best way to end a good show is for Calvin to leave the show that way because one thing Tyler Perry has never focused is death of a family member. To make it real the characters need to experience the one thing we can not deal with.
