AMC issues a quick renewal of the sophomore horror drama.
October 25, 2011
We're just two episodes into Season 2 of The Walking Dead, and AMC has already announced that a third season is on the way. The renewal comes as no shock, as the popular horror drama has been delivering record-high ratings for the network.
So far this season, The Walking Dead - which follows the months and years after a zombie apocalypse - has been pulling in the strongest ratings among adults 18-49 in the history of basic cable. It has also been setting viewership records globally, with over 10 million viewers in 122 countries watching the Season 2 premiere.

What is keeping the show going? Fans of the Graphic Novel? I was hoping for a good, original zombie show, but almost the entire first half of the second season was AWFUL. I can't stress that enough. It had a small handful of things that popped up to keep me following, but instead of interest in the characters, story and action... I was watching it like rubber-neckers watch the dead bodies in a massive highway pile-up. More to find out how they are going to recover from such awful dialog, acting and actions. Pretty much then only consistent and extended period of non-awfulness was the autumn finale.
My sig slapped me when I screamed "F#$&ING FINALLY," at the very end of the episode.
The first episode in the latter half better be damn good, or I give up the show. There is lots better zombie-fare, and without trying, I could have written better than this season so far. C'mon AMC, tighten it up!
