The Showtime drama will return for seasons 7 and 8.

Showtime has renewed its hit series Dexter for two additional seasons, it was announced today. Currently in its sixth season, the serial killer drama has so far been averaging just over 5 million weekly viewers across all platforms, which makes it the show's highest-rated season yet.
"Dexter's enormous success is a real tribute to the great achievements of its cast, producers, and the powerhouse performance of Michael C. Hall," said Showtime's President of Entertainment, David Nevins. "The series is bigger than it's ever been in its sixth season, both in terms of audience and its impact on the cultural landscape. Together with Michael, the creative team on the show has a very clear sense of where they intend to take the show over the next two seasons and, as a huge fan, I’m excited to watch the story of Dexter Morgan play out."
The network has ordered 12 episodes for each of Dexter's seventh and eighth seasons.

After streaming all 9 seasons, we are hoping there is more to come!

I love watching the show. Dexter is an incredable actor. I hope the series continues.

season 7 is off to a great start i wonder will there be a season 9

Season 6 was interesting, very much so in concept, the surprises at the end, did think S6 was somewhat slow at times, after all, we have to wait to long and get 13 eps if we're lucky-but I love it-and no doubt Michael C Hall is absolutely brilliant, along with several other cast memebers-I DO miss Doakes (Erik King)...Can't wai for the return..

I love Dexter - even the so-so episodes are good, because watching Michael C. Hall is a feast. He's powerful, vulnerable and knows exactly who his character is and what he's capable of. I'm so glad Dex will be around for awhile. Thank god this show is on Showtime, not NBC.

After fail in season 5 (I think it felt that way because there's nothing else that make dexter to be human again after his wife died. IMO) season 6 is really great. It has fresh concept. I even deceived by the concept (in most tv shows, I can deduced how it will be ended)

last season was a bit slow, but i love my dexter, and this year has been great!!!
