The serial killer drama makes a surprise return.
October 14, 2020
Showtime announced today that Dexter will be making a return to television in a limited series revival set to make its debut next year. It has been seven years since the serial killer drama ended its initial run.
The original series followed the story of Dexter, who was orphaned as a young child and raised by a police officer who took notice that he was displaying sociopathic tendencies. To give Dexter an outlet for his twisted urge to kill, he teaches him to target only people who have slipped through the cracks of the justice system. Working as a blood spatter analyst, Dexter is able to cover up his own crimes while hiding in a role where nobody would think to look.
The reboot will see Michael C. Hall reprise his tile role, with Clyde Phillips onboard as showrunner. 10 episodes have reportedly been ordered for an expected return in the Fall of 2021.

Definitely looking forward to this. I cringe at how season 8 ended. If they can't bring Deb back alive, I hope they make her Dexter's new spiritual guide, replacing or joining Harry.

So funny that this show is coming back, it's one of the shows I've recently gone back and started watching from the beginning, I forgot how good it was. Looking forward to, hollywood is putting out so much crap television were seeing all these reboots. Good for us!

Given what the man who wrote and created DEXTER book series’s has already done to the story (which FAR outweighed the hackjob SHOWTIME gave it) DEFINITELY NOT INTERESTED. This is a dying network trying to stay relevant after the dreadful fiasco

With such an amazingly bad series finale to a fantastic series, I’m glad there’s a chance for a do-over! Maybe How I Met Your Mother will follow suit and fix the travesty that they left us with. It ruins the reruns when a finale is that spectacularly awful.

Maybe they will pull a “Dallas” and the last episode was a dream! Everyone lives! Dexter was a great show so I hope they don’t ruin it like they did Penny Dreadful.

@Vendetta OMG! LOLOLOLOL!!!! You are so right! I bet Showtime is doing a reboot because they are desperate for ratings. Showtime has become so liberal that no one watches any of their shows anymore. Shameless has now become its own title. Last season was hard to watch! I hope they can leave the politics out of the Dexter reboot.

Well I hope they regret killing off [spoiler alert] and bring 'them' back!

The original series peaked with season 4 and it was all downhill from there until that last one. Would be nice if they just pretend that ending didn’t happen, but at the same time I think the possibilities for Dexter have been exhausted.
