The latest series from Shonda Rhimes will return next season.
May 11, 2012
ABC has renewed freshman drama Scandal for a second season. The political drama is the latest from creator Shonda Rhimes, who has two other prime time shows on the network: Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. Grey's was just renewed for a ninth season yesterday, while the word is still out on a sixth season of Private Practice.
Scandal premiered last month as a mid-season replacement and aired a short 7-episode first season. The season finale is set for next Thursday, May 17. There is no word on the number of episodes ordered for the show's second season, but an increase is expected.

This show is the most intriguing and thought stimulating show on network television. All of the actors do an excellent job by making the viewers think of them as the character they portray. The writing is superb and the events totally engross the viewer. I can not wait until Thursday nights. If the all seasons were rerun after the finale I would watch them again, because the pace is so fast and mind boggling each time I am sure I would discover something I missed the first time around. Props to the writer, the producers, and to all the actors involved.

I find this show ludicrous, bumptious, vapid, annoying and boring. It's like going on a date with a pretty and seemingly nice person, but he or she turns out to be a mean-spirited moron whom you have nothing in common with. I think it fails on so many levels that I'm just really surprised it wasn't cancelled upon first airing the pilot episode. It claims to be a political thriller, though actually it's more like an appalling soap opera in a milieu of the Washington D.C. power elite; this is the same crap that speculative tabloid journalism feeds off of — politics doesn't really have anything to do with it. A few critics even praise it with words like “gripping love storiesâ€, “a fun, fast ride, with lots of twists and turns, murder and menaceâ€, “a fast-paced, occasionally clever television showâ€, and so on. False advertising.
But if you love shallowness, arrogance, ignorance, corruption, clichés, etc. — and if you hate smart, sophisticated, funny, amazing, uplifting, honest, mature, deep, realistic and genuinely interesting — then this could be your favourite kind of entertainment. It's never (intentionally or obviously) satirical enough to make me laugh, and thus Scandal just big time sucks in a very demeaning way. There are even a few so called reality shows that I would rather watch than this, and usually I don't like ‘reality’ tv at all.
This show is not really the opposite of Veep, which also fails (at least the pilot episode), though not as miserably as Scandal, and without claiming to be something that it is not. Veep is a very openly satirical comedy, but it fails to be as hilarious as its British original (The Thick of It). No, Scandal is more like the opposite of The Newsroom.

I anxiously await 10pm Thursdays to be excitedly entertained by Oliva and her staff not to mention the meaning of love and in love between she and Fitz. It is an ongoing sit on the edge and forget relaxing ..for the best is yet to come. Rhonda could not have chosen a better title "Scandal" I record and watch episodes over and over back to back with the same excitement as if it were the first time viewing. I am waiting for next season to aire.
My sister and I talk about the events during commercial and we both rudely slam our phones down in each others faces as soon as the show resumes..so funny and thrilling!

Well finally a show I like is not being canceled. It is very entertaining the opposit of the idiot series VEEP which is a waste of good tallent and I can insure you my time will not be wasted watching. Scandal brings us a realistic view of things that really go on in politics that we never see. I personally know of how people can be eraised. I had a relative who was killed by mafia and the police covered it up to the point of their is no proof my relative existed. No birth records no buriel, we put his ashes under a pine tree in a forest, two months later we found the tree upside down as a warning. No picture in school anuel absoluty no record of existance. One reporter 10 years after the incident contacted my relatives father and wanted to look into it. When we did not hear from that reporter we called him his reply was" I do not know what you are talking about and do not ever call me again." So you can see how far it went. Their was a politician who visited the murder when first arrested whom later went on to a high governmental office. Enough said. Great show love it.
