FOX has picked up the singing competition for another cycle.

FOX announced today that The X Factor has been renewed for a third season. The singing competition, which starts its Season 2 live shows next Thursday, has continued to earn solid ratings this season, averaging a 3.9 among adults 18-49 with just over 10 million weekly Total Viewers.
“I couldn't be happier about The X Factor already being renewed for another season,” said judge and show creator, Simon Cowell. “I am so proud of the show and the team who have made it this season. I want to thank our incredible sponsors for their support and creativity, and FOX for going out of their way to do everything they can to make this show a success. Most importantly, I have to personally thank our amazing fans for the support and enthusiasm they have given to The X Factor.”
Next week's first live show of Season 2 will be a special two-and-a-half hour episode which will see the Top 16 acts perform, and will also serve as the debut for show's new hosts, Khloé Kardashian Odom and Mario Lopez.
