The cop drama ends after five seasons.
May 10, 2013
TNT has cancelled Southland after five seasons on the air. The cop drama got its start in 2009 on NBC, where it was originally axed after its first season. TNT stepped in and acquired the rights to the existing episodes, eventually renewing the show and keeping it on the air for three additional seasons.

It appears that the "quality does not count" axiom has finally hit cable with a vengeance! One bright note - I will be reading a lot more and watching a lot less.

This is a disgrace - Southland was one of the best things on TV. It was the ONLY thing we watched on TNT. The ratings make no sense. Everyone we know watched Southland - the ratings system is clearly broken.

I will echo what has previously been said here. It is truly a shame that reality TV proliferates our air waves and shows such as these are cancelled.
Shame on you TNT! You give in to mainstream media.

Every show I like seems to get cancelled. It seems like if it isn't about the Kardashians, swapping wives, Honey Boo Boo, the Bachelor or some other put on reality crap it gets cancelled. The networks seem to be catering to low level stupid minded morons who have not attention span. I am ready to get rid of my cable.

i think if these networks even had " Game of Thrones " it would've been cancelled for another teen reality show with short skirts .. as long as it pays ... no count for taste what so effin ever. thank god for HBO and Showtime.

One of the best shows on TV...It makes me sick they would ax it...it really should be on a major network. TNT, please reconsider. You took it from NBC for a reason, it's a great show and concept.
