TNT announced today that Rizzoli & Isles has been renewed for a fifth season. The popular summer drama currently ranks as basic cable's Number 1 series for the summer-to-date, averaging 8.4 million viewers (Live + 7 delivery) - a 6% increase over its previous season.
15 new episodes have been ordered for Season 5, which is scheduled to return in summer 2014.
UPDATE: Season 5 of Rizzoli & Isles premieres on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 9:00pm.

VERY happy to hear that R&I is renewed for another season.
I enjoy the show for its entertainment value and love the characters.
I am SO SICK of reality shows and tired of my favorite cable dramas getting axed.

I can't tell you how glad I am that the show is returning, although I do wish it would be sooner. I am so tired of shows getting dropped on a cliff-hanger. Besides Rizzoi & Isles is the best example of strong female characters who not only lead the stories but show true friendship for one another. That is so rare in todays world of television.

To Bill Thackrey, sounds like you have to force yourself to watch this show. Maybe you should watch something that has deeper plots and legs you can enjoy that and spare us your backhanded compliments.

I'm so glad that there will be new series, l just look forward to watch it,so sad about Mr.Young he will be sorely missed, i'm sure it will be handled with great respect an sensitivity.

Glad to know the show will be returning but question the reasoning of the network execs who decided to skip the winter and spring months in favor the summer. Not cool! Also sorry hear about the loss of one of their cast mates.

I have to admit I watch this show. I'm not sure why exactly. Probably the chemistry between Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander. And from a purely sexist perspective, they have four of the best legs on television. And I've always loved Lorraine Bracco. Truthfully, though, the writing is formulaic, the plots contrived and the acting is often painfully stilted. This will not go down as one of the great TV dramas. Yet I still watch it. Go figure. It beats an episode of America's Got Talented Duck Dorks or Metro Swamp Storage Survivor Race War Idol.
