There will be no season 4 for the crime drama.
August 28, 2014
A&E has cancelled Longmire after three seasons on the air. Premiering in 2012, the crime drama went on to become the cable network's most-watched original drama ever, amassing a sizable and loyal fanbase.
While its third-season ratings were down from previous years, it is not clear if that was the reason for the show's cancellation. It is being reported that its production company, Warner Horizon, will be shopping the series to other networks.

This would be a great pick up for TNT...add this show with the last ship on the same night..

What in the world is wrong with A&E. One of the best shows on air and they cancel it. The Glades and Longmire made a perfect night of TV viewing. And both left on such a huge cliff hander. I am still in shock that A&E would be so stupid.

I have always heard the comment "If it's not broken, don't try and fit it". 90% of A&E's programming is PURE CRAP and when you do come with a great program, which Longmire is, you shoot yourself in the foot again by dropping it. It really appears that the person in charge at A&E attended The University of FUBAR with honors.

All A&E has now is Bates Motel and I'm just gonna give up watching that and A&E all together. I will never watch A&E again unless they realize they made a mistake and bring it back. I do hope AMC or another network picks up Longmire. This isn't the only site with a long list of complaints about this! Bey A&E

Well, they certainly DO need to shop a new network, cuz I will be doing the same. A&E has blown it for the last time. I have cancelled them from my viewing list. LONG LIVE LONGMIRE...DOWN WITH A&E!!

I'd LOVE to see AMC pick up this series. They would know how to brand it and advertise it correctly. I mean come on Breaking Bad, Hell on Wheels, Mad Men and the list goes on and on. This would be a wonderful pair up with Hell on Wheels. Either way someone will pick this up.

Well I figured out whats up with A&E, they don't want quality shows. I just looked at their list of shows for 2014 and there is not an original, quality scripted show on the list. No point in watching A&E unless you want to see ducks, hamburgers, dumpster divers, prisoners, tattos, murders, some other reality nonsense or Bates Motel. I guess they chose to have one original program and I would venture to guess they chose the one that costs them the least amount of money. I recently heard from a friend, and of course I don't think this way as I am sure the majority of TV viewers don't also, but it is all about content and the cost of the content. The object is to find programming that cost the least and will make the most revenue from advertising. the way to make the most money, not provide good quality TV like Longmire or The Glades. Two great shows that were torn from TV for no reason other than A&E is about content, cost and profit. All businesses deserve profit but they consistently exhibit a disregard for the consumer. Lets not forget, A&E is owned by corporate giants Comcast and Disney. We know those two companies by business reputation.

PLAIN AND SIMPLE - WTF is wrong with you people at A&E. First you cancel The Glades and now Longmire. The only reason I stuck with your channel after The Glades was cancelled was for Longmire. DONE, DONE AND MORE THAN DONE WITH YOU.

Cable television used to give shows a fair break but they seem to be mimicking the behavior of the regular broadcast networks. They shouldn't be surprised when their viewers look to other mediums for entertainment. Shame on A&E for cancelling another great show. I too will no longer waste my time with any other A&E programs.
