The comedy has had two episodes cut from this season.
January 7, 2015
It is being reported that NBC has lowered the episode count for Season 2 of About A Boy to 20, down from its original order of 22. While only a slight adjustment down, the timing of the move could be telling as it comes a day after the comedy fell to a series low rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic.
With the show nine episodes into its second season, the network still has time to watch how viewership fares over the coming months before deciding its fate - so long as its numbers don't continue to slide.

Please do NOT cancel About A Boy. My entire family loves this show and that includes ages 2, 7, 9, 38, and 40. We love how good natured this show is and the loving relationships between Marcus and his mother, and Marcus and Will. This show provides such healthy, positive, and good hearted episodes. I love having a new show that my children and I can enjoy together...not many of those out there, especially with the morals and values I feel this show brings to television. We are definitely fans. We are telling everyone it is a must watch.

Please do not cancel "About a Boy". It is a funny show with no cursing. The actors are great. Minnie Driver does an excellent job of delivering her lines. Will and the boy have such a great relationship.

Hope they don't cancel it. One of the funniest and original show on tv.

I watched the first season and started to watch the second. But the juvenile way the main character talks to the boy is kinda oft putting. I stopped recording it and can say that I really haven't missed watching it.....Meh!

To be fair.. How many zombie, comicbook, or alien shows have there really been in history? Compared to how many cop/lawyer/doctor shows that have existed in history. They don't deserve to get lumped in just yet.

I do really enjoy this show and the premise is unique (though based on the movie of the same name, but still unique to TV). I agree with the "Unfortunately it is not a cop, lawyer, doctor, zombie, alien, comic book hero, reality, etc. show" quote below

I love this show, but it's getting boring and near impossible to watch. I catch up on Hulu because Marvel Agents of Shield and NCIS,if they switch to Thursdays, it might survive, but honestly you should have extended last season to make it a mini series, but hope this show last the full season.
