The veteran drama will return for 2015-2016.
May 11, 2015
CBS has renewed Person of Interest for a fifth season. The long-running crime drama continues to be a steady performer for the network on Tuesday nights. Look for the show to return in the fall as part of the 2015-2016 season.
Update: CBS is targeting Season 5 of Person of Interest for mid-season, though no premiere date has been announced.

Awwww yissss! So happy that they renewed Person of Interest. The first time I've been able to really get into a show, since Lost. I love it!

More on the POI renewal, from Deadline Hollywood:
"Of the slew of the returning scripted series renewed by CBS today, only one, Person of Interest, is not owned by the network. (It comes from Warner Bros. TV.) It was the lone series to get a partial order, which I hear is for 13 episodes. That is exactly what happened last May, with a last-minute 13-episode order to another veteran Warner Bros drama procedural, The Mentalist. Just like last year with The Mentalist, CBS would not say whether the upcoming fifth season of POI would be its last though I hear that is likely. (The Mentalist announcement came a few months later.)"
I suppose POI fans' best hope is for an elegant ending to finish the series. It would be great if the show goes on beyond those 13 episodes, but...

Glad POI got renewed. Now there's an opportunity for the show runner to do the right thing and END THE SAMARITAN DETOUR. Only way that story line continues is for The Machine to be truly lost, and if that, what's the point? Too many instances of the triumph of evil over good in this show for my taste. How about a victory for the good side, please. Anyway looking forward to next chapter. Hope it satisfies.

Instead of saving individuals, the show has now moved into the arena of no less than saving the world.
The ultimate social nightmare precipitated by a mad machine running amok. Quite a thrill ride.
