The medical drama's first season is extended.
November 21, 2015
CBS has topped up the first season of Code Black, ordering five additional episodes of the medical drama. While the series is off to a relatively slow start through its first eight weeks, the top-up gives it a little more time to improve its numbers.
The extra episodes give Code Black a total of 18 for Season 1, just short of the typical 22 that comprise a full season. New episodes air Wednesday nights at 10:00pm.

There is SO MUCH trash TV that I can't believe when there's FINALLY a worthwhile show on, it would be considered for cancelation! Seriously?? Don't cancel this!! It's the BEST SHOW on TV!! Renew it! Make TV a good place for entertainment!

I absolutely love this show! I'm glad they topped the season off but what I'd REALLY like to hear is that it's getting a second season!

I think this is one of the best shows on TV right now. Some shows are emotionally draining and intense, others, you learn some more about the characters. I wished Trauma would have made it too.

I am so happy to hear that Code Black is having episodes added. Totally love this show and the actors.

Fantastic show. Harden and Guzman are wonderful in their roles. The seriousness in this show far outshines melodramas such as Grey's Anatomy, which doesn't sound even remotely plausible
I hope this baby sticks around. Reminds me a bit of the first season of ER, also one of my favorite medical shows.

One of the best medical Dramas out right now, LETS TAKE A LOOK.
1) The night shift: is a great show and keeps you on the edge every episode but most of the stuff is way out there and would never happen week in and out. But great tv.
2) The knick: is one of them shows that takes you back early 20th century and is dark, Not a drama lots of people would like but on other hand its something so unique its a must watch.
3) Chicago Med: Just started and if you like fire and pd you will like this show. It has only aired once so its not fair for me to say its not good. Looking at what the other two shows are like and this already looks like it will be taking the same route. The story line will lead the show more than the ER.
4) Dr. ken: This is a sitcom not a medical Drama So i dont think it should match up.
5) heartBreaker: I have not watched this show yet. Sadly did not get to it
6) Code Black: This shows from start to end is a ride that never slows down, Back Story is very few if any during some of the episodes. almost everything you could see going down in real life on a day to day basis. More medical emergency than talking... 42min flys by on this show unlike the others.

Love, love, love this show! I am so happy they're giving it a chance. I hope the ratings will pick up and we'll get several seasons of it. I would enjoy seeing the characters fleshed out over time.

Agree with Pilsner. I can't say I have much of a clue how the ratings work. Depending on the week I watch Code Black "live" and DVR Chicago PD and perhaps the next week the other way around. When necessary it all gets DVR'd until I can see the shows. Some older shows that get rerun like "House" I still DVR at times to watch later. Meanwhile, good for Code Black. More good TV will never be a bad thing.

Dakota. The night doesn't really matter now as people watch shows when they want and don't watch many live anymore. Until there is a way to accurately obtain the dvr views, which no one will agree to, we are stuck with a very skewed Nelson rating system that does not accurately reflect the viewership.
