No Season 3 for the period drama.
February 3, 2016
WGN America confirmed today that Manhattan has been cancelled after two seasons. The period drama, which followed events around the creation of the Manhattan Project in the 1940's, was the cable network's second original scripted series behind the still-airing Salem.
The show garnered its share of critical praise but failed to draw enough viewers during its run to sustain it any further. The final episode of Manhattan aired this past December.

Maybe don't try to over dramatize a real life historical event that everyone (who would watch the show) knows the outcome of. Will the bomb work? Will Allies win the war? No suspense. Take a cue from PBS and set the drama on the outside of the event. In this golden age of tv you have to bring your A game to hope to succeed. Shows are being canned now, not for being bad, but for not being good enough. Why waste money on a show when you can get better ones made for the same price. Now make a better one or give us less commercials, either way if you want us to stay you better work on it.

First off dang you WGN!
Well it's not like I wont ever find out what happens. America harnessed the power of an atom and dropped an empire to its knees. As for the made up drama or filler I would have liked it to finish its course but since I have no choice I'll just watch the Bikini Atoll documentary on Netflix. It is about nuclear weapon testing on bikini atoll. During one test they used 1/3 accelerant 2/3 inert gas and when the nuke hit critical mass and detonated the heat caused the inert gas to loose a proton (or something like that) and it became the same gas used as an accelerant. It caused it to be 15 megatons instead of 5 megatons. Three times larger then predicted. For perspective the nuke dropped on Hiroshima was 500 kilotons roughly 30 times smaller.

this really sucks. it's not like wgn has lots of tv shows on. they have TWO, I think. the fun 'salem' and this one. And they didn't even get to the bomb exploding. I was hoping they'd get to that and end the show, can't they do a movie to end it? SAD. I was hoping they'd shoot the female spy , now I can only imagine it. this is sad.

I meant in general Terry. Not WGN specifically. I'm sick of SHOWS getting the ax to make room for cheap CRAP like reality TV. And just because WGN hasn't done it yet doesn't mean they won't....But tell me some more how I FEEL idiot.

Dang, that sucks. They do kind of just leave us hanging.
Greg, what "reality" crap does WGN put out? I think you are a little sore for other reasons.

I agree with David, I think the show did have another season and I also agree they wondered from the story line a bit much during the second season. That being said, my opinion is that it was still a much better show than probably 80% of the crap out there. I am sorry to see it go.

I thought the current story lines and content had enough for another season, ending with the boom.
Beyond that I was wondering were it would go.
IMO, the prison story line with the Frank character was a bad move, too much a distraction from the main story line.
Sorry to see it go.

Typical. Why "waste" money on GOOD programming with a historical slant when you can just slam out more "reality" CRAP TV......Who cares about the viewers you DID have. Just END it with no conclusion for the fans. And here I made the mistake of thinking maybe WGN would be better with their 'original programming'....

Manhattan was pretty ok for a storyline that barely was a storyline and i think this was another show that could not think of a better storyline to hold onto.
