There will be no Season 2 of AMC's new summer series Feed the Beast. The cable network has opted to cancel the David Schwimmer drama after just one season of 10 episodes, citing subpar performance. The show's final episode aired in early August.

Feed the Beast received a straight-to-series order from the cable network last year, with a premise based on the Danish show Bankerot following two close friends who open a restaurant together. Its premiere episode drew modest viewership but by its second week those numbers fell to less than half, where they stayed for the rest of its run. Critical reception wasn't any better, with generally less-than-favorable reviews coming out of many outlets.

It is uncommon for AMC to end a new series after just one season. Feed the Beast joins only Low Winter Sun and Rubicon as shows with that distinction.
