The superhero series will continue its run on The CW.
January 8, 2017
The CW announced today that Supergirl has been renewed for a third season. The action drama will return this fall for what will be its second season on the network. After airing its first season on CBS in 2015, the show was moved to The CW for Season 2, which was seen as a better fit since it was already home to three other superhero series set in the same DC Comics universe.
Along with Supergirl, The CW also renewed its four other returning fall dramas today. Picked up for the 2017-2018 season are The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supernatural. As for the network's freshman dramas, No Tomorrow and Frequency were absent from today's list of renewed shows. They likely will not be returning for a second season, but we won't know for sure until May.

PC? In a television show derived from a comic book. I think that I will find something else to waste my time with.

This show is getting way too political shoving biased propaganda down the audience's throat. Get back to a comics storyline!

Meh. It's watchable but not must see. Mostly it's watchable because the cast is so likeable.
I'm getting tired of all these superhero shows, even "The Flash". It's basically the same plot recycled over and over.

Sorry.. I think all these DC shows are just swapping scripts and changing character names. The storylines and overall plots are too close to each other.

I don't watch this show, but if this renewal means more crossovers and more Barry and Kara, then I'm happy.

Sad to see Calista Flockhart leave the show, but Supergirl has made the transition to the CW fairly well, all things considered.
