The movie adaptation will return for Season 2.
February 22, 2017
Fox announced today that Lethal Weapon has been renewed for a second season. The good news comes as the buddy cop series is winding down its freshman run - one that fared quite well for a movie-adapted entry.
Television shows based on films quite often have a tough time making the transition to the small screen, with recent attempts at adapting such theatrical hits as Rush Hour, Limitless and Minority Report ultimately failing. Lethal Weapon has bucked that trend though, with a strong showing out of the gate that has developed into a solid presence for Fox on Wednesday nights.
Based on the movie franchise of the same name, Lethal Weapon follows iconic cop duo Riggs and Murtaugh as they team up to fight crime in the city of Los Angeles. Riggs is an ex-Navy SEAL-turned-detective who moves to California for a fresh start with the LAPD. His somewhat-reckless style of police work clashes with his new partner Murtaugh, whose technique is more reserved. Murtaugh, though, starts to take to Riggs' style as it starts to breathe new life into his daily grind.

Love, love, love it. Comedy and suspense. My kind of series. The actors are great together and am saddened that season 2 is over. Please continue with season 3. 😆

I like this show better than the movie. The guy that plays riggs is so much better than mel Gibson. Great show hope this show is on for many more seasons.

I am so very glad this show was renewed. My husband and I both watch and love this show. We really enjoy the chemistry that these two have together. The show is funny, thrilling, and action-packed. These 2 work great together, we hate getting attached or liking a show too much though because every time we do it gets cancelled. So you never know if you fall in love with a show that it will continue or not. So we are very glad it will be sticking around and coming back.

I like this show...I'm so thrilled for Damon Waynes. I've always loved him. My only complaint: do something about Clayne Crawford's hair! It's always dirty, which I could almost ignore if he wasn't ALWAYS TOUCHING IT! It's so distracting and gross. If he can't function without it flopping in his face so that he has to keep fixing it and pushing it back, CUT IT! And in real life a cop couldn't have hair like that, not just because it looks so bad but because he couldn't risk it shielding his view when he's dealing with armed criminals. This show would be awesome if not for the hair.

sorry, i watched this for about five shows and will not waste my time with it anymore. most shows these days are poorly written, example being the mick and others that are funny for the first show then continue with the same garbage. oh well, back to netflix 4/5 star movies.

Yeah! I kept going back and forth between worrying this would be cancelled and assuming a show this good had to make it. Obviously it is never a sure thing since networks cancel great shows all the time. Before I saw Lethal Weapon, I didn't hold out much hope given the movies/actors they were following. It was brilliant to go with a major name like Damon Wayans, but how could anyone play the insanely grief- stricken character of Riggs after Mel Gibson? To my absolute delight, Clayne Crawford pulls it off beautifully.
