The action drama will return for Season 2.

In a surprise reversal of decision, NBC has decided to renew Timeless for a second season. The move comes just three days after the network originally cancelled the series to the dismay of the show's fans who were left with a season-ending cliffhanger back in February.
Co-creator Eric Kripke spread the good news on Twitter this morning, writing:
"The #TimeTeam went back 3 days, and changed history. @nbc picked us up for 10 episodes. Seriously. Airs next summer. #TimelessRenewed".
He followed that up minutes later with an update:
"Correction. Info moving fast. We're airing sometime in 2018, not sure when. But we're airing! #ResuscitateTimeless"
Timeless premiered last fall as part of NBC's fall line-up with a lot of momentum behind it. Created by two veteran producers, the series was given a high profile time slot airing after The Voice on Monday nights with heavy promotion, and received high critical praise from early reviews. While its premiere episode got off to a solid start, ratings slipped in subsequent weeks leaving only a limited audience who kept tuning in.
That audience, it turns out, was quite vocal when it was announced that the show would not be returning for a second season. So much so that the series was at the top of USA Today's "Save Our Shows" poll. That reaction seems to have swayed the powers that be to change their minds, resulting in today's pickup.

Looks like due to poor ratings it didn’t make it for the full 10 episodes as there are no more shows scheduled.

It's also a safe bet that the producers may create two different versions of the tenth episode. They'll make one as a finale to wrap things up and end the series properly to satisfy the fans, and a second version as a 'to be continued', maybe with a cliffhanger to use in case they do get renewed. Hopefully the network will gave given them an answer about their status *before* episode ten. It would really suck if they aired the TBC episode only to get the axe afterwards.

10 episodes doesn't necessarily mean 10 episodes. Many, many shows get a limited run in their first season and if they are doing well the show will get "topped up" for another several episodes in the same season. The only difference in this case would be that when it happens to other shows, the additional episodes have usually already been filmed.
In this case, I think the network is just erring on the side of caution in case the show doesn't perform well. I imagine if it does, they will probably "top up" the second season, but would likely be in a split season format, like season 2.0's 10 episodes in the summer and season 2.5 with 10 or more episodes in early 2018.

Wow! This is odd. Only 10 episodes doesn't instill much hope this show will survive after initially getting the axe. It needs another network to pick it up. NBC can't carry it.

2018? Only 10 episodes? Count me out.
As much as I like this show, airing only 10 episodes means waiting 42 weeks until the next Season comes around and this isn't how I like to watch TV. And, in this case, we'll have to wait until 2018 for this series to come back, and by this time I will have forgotten everything I ever knew about Timeless.
So, I'll pass on this show. I really dislike binge watching TV series--by the 5th episode the show becomes monotonous, and the show's theme song really irritating. Very few shows are worth sitting through 10 episodes in a row.

Now that this show has gotten a reprieve, it needs to up its game including better written scripts, more engaging season-long storylines, more thought and storyline on how the past impacts the present and future, a more engaging and believable scenario on how a government agency would handle a secret like this and finally let the story bleed over from week to week and stop rushing through every storyline.

I love the premise of this show and am sooooo glad it's renewed. Only flaw I have is that whatever they alter in the past should lead to what is our reality now... hence it has real world implications. But I do like this show and I am glad it was reversed

So the way to get a show re-instated is to get to the top of the "save my show" list in USA Today?? Why didn't anyone tell me this! 5 of the shows I watch have been cancelled... Forget petitions! USA Today here I come! (PS--- Glad Timeless was renewed.. I love the show)
