Fox confirmed this morning that Scream Queens has been cancelled after two seasons. The anthology series from Ryan Murphy premiered in 2015 to a fair amount of buzz, but garnered only mixed reviews and modest ratings.

A mix of both comedy and horror, Scream Queens followed a group of sorority girls who were being terrorized by a mysterious masked killer. Its campy humor elicited a wide range of opinions from viewers, resonating with some while completely turning off others.

While its numbers performed well enough in Season 1 to warrant a renewal, a dip in its sophomore viewership put the show firmly in danger despite being bolstered by a significant on-demand audience and a strong social media presence.
