More episodes ordered for the Judd Hirsch comedy.
November 27, 2017
CBS announced today that Season 2 of Superior Donuts will be getting more episodes added to it. The good news comes four weeks into the comedy's sophomore run and adds nine episodes to its original order of 13, bringing its total up to 22.
The series premiered early this year as a midseason entry and quickly proved to be a solid addition to the network's Monday night lineup. Its first season performed well enough for CBS to upgrade the show from midseason status to a regular fall entry for 2017-2018. Airing Monday nights at 9:00pm, Season 2 has been drawing ratings that are close to where it left off in Season 1.
Superior Donuts stars Judd Hirsch as an old-school owner of a donut shop in Chicago that hasn't seen much change since it first opened in the sixties. But while his shop remained frozen in time, the neighborhood around it was changing. With the business starting to fall on hard times, he starts to let his enterprising young employee help bring his shop into the 21st century.

The cast has settled into a ensemble that is able to provide some laughs each week. It hasn't reached "Taxi" territory because in general the characters aren't as memorable but still it's a pleasant way to spend half an hour.
I'm also impressed that Hirsch is still going strong at almost 83 years old!

Sorry.. most of the time all I here is Lela from Futurama.... then a bunch of Sesame Street jokes and "moral" lessons they want to preach.

Good to see "Superior Donuts" will be getting more episodes. It's a great show and is like "Cheers" set in a doughnut shop.

The first season had the show channeling "Chico and the Man" pretty well. It was characters fumbling and joking as characters. I succeeded just more than it missed.
THIS new season is nothing but the cast sitting around, taking turns doing really stale jokes like wooden puppets. I'm surprised there isn't a rimshot after each "gag". We gave up after three episodes.

Nop, Sweatpants is still here. I don't remember if he's been there every week, but I saw him in the oh-so-subtle last episode.
For Maya, I don't really mind her being gone, but her departure wasn't ackowledged at all. In the finale, people were upset, but they kinda forgave her after she read her conclusion, and it really didn't feel like she was leaving.
I just don't like when people disappear from a show and nobody says anything ^^

@Khelben: Isn't Sweatpants gone too? My bad if I just don't remember him this season.
As for Maya, in the season finale she finished her dissertation or whatever research she was sitting there working on every episode. They could have kept her on screen, but for me it makes more sense for her to be gone as people were upset with her, and she no longer has a need to be there. (Other than donuts of course)

3 ? They only dropped 2, Maya and the useless cop. What's weird is that they bothered explaining the cop, but didn't mention Maya at all.
Still a good show, though. Not a great sitcom, far from it, but clearly not a bad one.

I do like this show, but season 1 was better. Dropping off 3 characters felt jarring to me even though at least Maya's absence makes sense. The bottom line for me is Judd Hirsch can do no wrong. I just hope they are able to keep the writing up to par.

Wow, I struggled with the first couple of episodes and gave up. I may go back and watch OnDemand.
