The comedy spin-off will return for Season 2.
January 18, 2018
Freeform announced today at the inaugural Freeform Summit that Grown-ish has been renewed for a 20-episode second season. The early pickup comes just three weeks into the freshman comedy's run, which is off to a strong start for the cable network.
The show's premiere episode earlier this month now ranks as the top-rated comedy debut on Freeform in over five years. Critics have been praising the series as well, noting its social awareness and fresh portrayal of the college experience.
A spin-off of ABC's Black-ish, which is currently in its fourth season, Grown-ish follows the family's eldest daughter Zoey, who is heading off to college. Beginning her journey to adulthood will have its ups and downs as she does her best to navigate the messy world of campus life.

Gee I wonder why?!?! Minority shows always get extra push, with exception of The Mayor which was much better than this drivel! Fresh off the Boat needs to go too. It was fine at first but then went stupid!

@charlie:
And the actress can narrate well. it seems like she is reading a middle school diary. They wanted to do a certain type of show, but it ended up not working out.

As a Black-ish fan I had high hopes for something fresh, witty and funny. Grown-ish does not play on the formula used in Black-ish and comes of flat and stereotypical. Zoe does not seem to be the same character as on Black-ish, it should have done as a wholly new show and not a spin-off.

@Gurnett You obviously haven't watched the show in some time because Dean Cole is still on. So no Idea what you're talking about. As for this show, it was a non starter for me.

Wow, I feel pretty clueless. I have been recording this show, but I had NO idea it was a spin-off with Zoey! I'm sitting here trying to decide if that makes me more interested or less since I obviously haven't watched any of the shows yet. I guess I will check it out at some point, but now I know a little more of what to expect.

I like black-is and had high hopes for this spin off. Unfortunately Zoe is not interesting enough IMO. Add in the annoying narration and this show becomes a struggle. I will continue to watch for now to see if the characters develop some depth, but I have low expectations for this show.

as a black-ish fan i gave it a chance. but meh. i guess this is intended for a more juvenile audience. To be honest, i would rather preferred a spinoff show with Junior in my opinion, he is the funniest brother among them.

Grownish is a 'Different World' than Balckish.

I hate constant, ever present narration.. just means they can't write well for the medium.
