CBS announced today that The Big Bang Theory will come to an end after its upcoming 12th season. The news will see the veteran series sign off next May as one of the most-successful prime time comedies of all time.
Since its premiere in 2007, The Big Bang Theory has been winning over audiences and garnering critical acclaim like few other comedies have. More viewers have tuned into the show since 2010 than any other comedy on television, and it consistently leads the ratings among many key demographics.
By the time its all over, the show will have aired a total of 279 episodes and rank as the longest-running multi-camera sitcom in TV history. It also picked up dozens of awards over the years from the likes of The Emmys, The Golden Globes, The People's Choice Awards, and many others.
A joint statement was released from WBTV, CBS, and Chuck Lorre Productions stating, "We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of The Big Bang Theory during the past twelve seasons. We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show's success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close."

There were a few funny lines in the brief encounters I had with the show. Overall the premise was simply too unrealistic and stupid. They did hit their target market and made a fortune which is always the goal, not to make "quality" programming.

I've been surprised that every time TBBT has been renewed there are a lot of haters. I love this show and will be very sad to see it go. I think they have done a miraculous job keeping it interesting even as the characters change and grow. It will be missed. And the very wealthy cast can move on with their lives.

I'm so sorry to see this show go, even though it was highly unlikely to continue after Season 12. It's the one series where I feel has not gone stale after so many seasons. Wonderful seasons, too, IMO. I'm sad.

I will certainly miss this show. The laughs were great. (Only one I did not like was Raj. He acted too weird.) I could count on the show to lift my spirits when I was feeling down. Great show. I hope it has a great ending. I also hope CBS can find a good show to replace it. (And that is NOT Young Sheldon.) I want the laughs to continue.

Good run, hate to see it go, but i understand. It kinda lost it edge when the nerds started getting married.
