The spin-off sees a small top-up to its freshman run.
October 26, 2018
ABC ordered an extra episode for Season 1 of The Conners today, extending its debut outing to 11 total. The news comes just two episodes into the show's run.
A spin-off of Roseanne, which had its time on the air cut short due to controversy surrounding its star, The Conners continues the story of the titular family, acting in a way as a second season to its source material. Before its cancellation, Roseanne had actually been renewed for a 13-episode sophomore run.
The Conners follows the family members' lives after a sudden turn of events alters their landscape forever. Forced to continue living their daily working-class lives in Lanford in a completely new way, Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky, and D.J. tackle everything from parenthood and financial pressure to dating and unexpected pregnancy.

this show is much better than the return series. my opinion, Roseanne wasn't really in it. the real world issues are more than politics. A family struggling with loss, reality vs fiction ties. it is a great show. the same time too real for many. writers need to focus less on her character though. dan wouldnt be the only one struggling, but the story needs to move forward or it wont survive.

The Nov 13th episode was good and I hope ABC gives them a chance to find their footing post RB.

I dont understand the criticism of Sara Gilbert so many people seem to have. I love her sense of humor on the show and in the other show Ive seen her in (Living Biblically).
I wish ABC and the public were able to separate the person Roseanne from the character of Roseanne. Literally nobody defended what she posted on Twitter, she doesnt even defend it. I, as with many people though, dont think she shouldve gotten fired over it. The new show came back to have the highest ratings ABC has seen in a long time. It made them so much money. Of course now though the head of ABC said they shouldnt have pulled the trigger so quickly (within hours of her tweet). But the damage is done now.
I do think the show should continue and hopefully get good ratings because I still like the characters, even though Sara Gilbert and Michael Fishman threw Roseanne under the bus when it all went down.

As nice as it would've been to keep an original cast, I think the first few episodes proved that Roseanne character lifted right out and the cast can stand alone on their own merit. Sara Gilbert, John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf have really stepped up and shown they can lead this show. Hope this show is on for many more seasons.

Everyone complaining about this show didn't actually watch the show. First off the original show Roseanne was great the first couple years and then it got ridiculous. Roseanne was always about a family and how they deal with every day things and that is what the Conners is about. The Halloween episode was great and brought back all nostalgia of the original show. Not even the reboot of Roseanne did that. It was all about her political views and not even the original show was about that. In fact they didn't like either side. It is getting so ridiculous the hypocrisy of these so called "reviews" of a show that people won't watch because Roseanne was racist and got fired. Which can happen to any of us at any job we have. The cast is doing a great job and the writing is good. ABC did the right thing kicking roseanne to the curb. This show is now about a family stuggling with the death of their mother/wife/sister. It hit home for me because I lost my mother and it is good to see a show that deals with that and how everyone grieves and the traditions we carry on.

If you watch this crap then you are no better than the fascists who cancelled Roseanne.

@maga*3. Funny how you tell others to leave political comments out and then make one of your own. And you call the left moronic? Here's hoping you are a fading minority next week.

Guys it’s okay I’m fine with this show going on. It can waste more money. I mean they bought me out for 50million and they are gonna waste this money.
