The comedy scores a two-season pickup.
February 5, 2019
CBS announced a two-season renewal for Mom today - the first of its kind for the comedy - that will see it on the air through Season 8. The Chuck Lorre-created series has been one of the network's top comedies over the course of its run, and at over 120 episodes still garners solid ratings week in and week out.
Following the lives of a mother and daughter who are both struggling with addiction issues, the series stands apart from many other comedies on television thanks to its penchant for tackling serious topics like death and alcoholism and mixing those topics with genuine and witty humor.
Look for Season 7 of Mom to premiere this fall as part of the 2019-2020 TV season, with Season 8 similarly following in the fall of 2020.

To be fair the show IS better without the kids, especially without Violet.
About Roscoe, I agree that he should show up once in a while but Christy knows he's better off being raised by his dad (now that he's nothing like he used to be in the first seasons) and his stepmother, I just assume she visits him off-screen to check on him without neglecting him too much.

I too am bothered by the erasure of the kids!! The daughter I can buy because she is an adult and at least had closure with her mom (her refusal to forgive and include her in her life was believable) However Roscoe still a child, a minor and if "Christy" was so scarred by her neglectful mother, why would she do the same to her own son? I know it's fiction and I do enjoy the show, but each week I wonder if it's the episode that will include Roscoe. Very sad change in show direction.

I stopped watching whenever the kids got taken out of the show. It's called MOM for a reason, the show's premise is Christy as a single mom... Yet they got rid of her kids?! Lol. At least change the name of the show.

LOOOOOVE Allison Janney! She makes the WHOLE SHOW! I'm satisfied with what's going on with Violet...... BUT WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO ROSCOE?? This is something that really bothers me & I think about it EVERY STINKING EPISODE! If Christy's childhood was so unbelievably terrible because of her MOM, who she mirrored... wouldn't Christy go the xtra xtra mile to make sure Roscoe's life was GREAT? Guess the show's less funny with a kid? "Let's act like he never existed"
?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
William Fichtner was a DELIGHTFUL add-on since Crossing Lines disappeared! LOVE HIM!

Funny show as Anna Faris is good and Allison Janney is fantastic and it has a good supporting cast (with some good revolving members). However the whole "abandoning of the kids" and shift in the show arc still bothers me even if the end result is a better show.

The only problem is that they haven't explained or had any stories anymore about her children & half brother. Where are the kids???

This show has been a consistent pleaser. It took awhile for it to settle down and figure out who the core characters were but now it's just humming along and delivering consistent laughs each week.
Having known people in recovery, this show at times is surprisingly spot on.

One of the very best shows on the air! Even syndicated reruns hold up. They can't go wrong with that cast.
