No Season 3 for the Marvel drama.
April 17, 2019
Word is out this evening that Fox has cancelled The Gifted after two seasons. The mutant drama, which concluded its sophomore run earlier this year, is the latest Marvel-based series to get the axe.
The show premiered in 2017 and had a fairly strong debut outing. Reviews were generally positive and ratings were solid enough for it to rank as the #3 new drama of that season. And while critical reception remained strong in Season 2, ratings did slip considerably compared to what it brought in for Season 1. Combine that with the fact that Marvel-based fare has been dropping like flies in recent months, and today's cancellation did not come as a complete surprise.
Set in Marvel's X-Men universe, The Gifted follows a family who learns that their kids possess mutant powers. And though the father is a district attorney, he is forced to take his family on the run from a hostile government and join up with an underground network of mutants in a fight to survive.

The second season was good. And it does not have a real cliffhanger ending. They filmed a end of the storyline where the villain is defeated then as they are leaving . a character that was thought to be dead returns and takes them through a wormhole. They did however give a ending to the main storyline. I feel that this is a big mistake cancelling this show. It was great and they never gave it a chance. If only amazon.com would pick it up. But that is SO unlikely.

Thanks Suzanne, not really sure though, if there is a cliff hanger, and I haven't even watched 1 episode of Season 2 yet... sounds like its iffy... But I do appreciate your thoughts on it, I was definitely not going to watch until I saw your comment, now I might, because I did like season 1 and I also agreed Acker is awesome, saw her on an episode of Greys Anatomy last week (just a small part, but it was great seeing her!)

Fox cancels too many good shows. It has become the reality network of television! Which are Cheap to make!

Hardly a surprise when all Marvel shows are ending because Disney are doing its own streaming service, Cloak & Dagger canned next.

Oh Well, this season had some major issues and annoyances but it was still a half decent show. Not something worth re-watching so not something I'm going to particularly miss, at least now Acker can get a role in something better (Acker was one of the main reasons i watched the show and to bad Garret Dillahunt didn't return for season 2, fantastic actor).

I'm surprised. The show was awesome. I didn't stop watching halfway through season 2.

Not surprised. After the first season they really lost their way.

Way to go CREATORS OF THE GIFTED you are the ones who created the ending. The network never promised you a third season. Thank you network for giving this show a chance.

I'm not surprised. The show was terrible. I stopped watching halfway through season 2.

This show was garbage. Of all the X-Men Universe shows they could have made, they made this trash? Its like the creators of the last few Fantastic Four movies collaborated to bring the worst possible show to television to tarnish the X-Men franchise before Disney owned them and made a proper show.
