CBS announced today that Madam Secretary has been picked up for a sixth season. The good news should delight fans who were wondering if the show would return following the events that took place in the Season 5 finale, namely (spoiler alert) Elizabeth McCord resigning her position as Secretary of State in order to announce her run for President.
The political drama, which stars Téa Leoni as the Secretary of State, has seen its ratings decline considerably the past few years but has remained a Sunday night staple nevertheless. The series surpassed the 100-episode milestone earlier this season.
Look for Season 6 of Madam Secretary to premiere this fall as part of the 2019-2020 television season.

They did put a female SoS as interim so who knows maybe the show will still focus on that and Elizabeth will be the President... lol hope that doesn't actually happen (the changing focus on new SoS I do hope she wins lol) To bad someone like her isn't running in real life!! :-)
