USA Network announced today that Queen of the South has been picked up for a fifth season. The good news arrives ahead of tonight's season finale and comes as no surprise.
The veteran drama has continued to maintain its strong performance, ranking as cable television's top scripted series in its Thursday time slot in numerous key demographics. With both Suits and Mr. Robot in their final seasons, Queen of the South is set to become the cable network's longest-running drama.
Queen of the South follows the story of a woman out to take down the leader of a drug trafficking ring that has her on the run in America after her boyfriend was murdered in Mexico. The series is based on the best-selling novel "La Reina Del Sur" by acclaimed author Arturo Pérez-Reverte.
Look for Season 5 of Queen of the South around the summer of 2020.
