The veteran horror series will continue in 2020.
October 5, 2019
Today's New York Comic Con panel for The Walking Dead delivered some good, albeit obvious, news for the series in the form of a pickup for Season 11. Showrunner Angela Kang made the announcement, which comes just a day ahead of the post-apocalyptic horror drama's 10th season premiere.
The long-running series continues to rank as one of cable television's top scripted series, though its current audience numbers are far from what they were in its heyday. To paint a picture, viewership in Season 9 was pulling in numbers similar to what it was drawing way back in Season 1, before it gained 'hit' status.
It was also announced today that Lauren Cohan will making a return to the show in Season 10, bringing fan-favorite character Maggie Greene back into the fold. The news was somewhat expected, as the series Cohan left The Walking Dead to pursue, Whiskey Cavalier, was cancelled after its first season.

It is a soap opera but so are most tv shows. If you do not like it do not watch it, I like the fact that it is similiar to the comics, many issues do not even have one zombie in them, and are about characters. So obviously if you want it to be a action show then tough luck, but the comics are drama things with some issues of action.that is like the tv show.

... this is AMC version of "Lost"... 7/8 extra years of backstories and distractions when the actual plot was over at season 3.....

Telling someone if they "don't like it, don't watch it" but not adding anything else just goes to show that there is no way to defend the show. Just realize people are reading it as "If you don't like it, don't watch it because it has nothing worth watching." Many people don't like the show and have given reasons. If you can't give a reason why you're on either side please don't comment.
My Opinion: The show has been on too long. It is just people doing stuff. Soap Opera of zombies. (I gave a reason I can comment)

One can only go on so long before they either 1. succeed in getting the problem under control or 2. the problem overwhelms them to a point of no return. Option #3 is just them having a problem with no real advancement or no decline; just doing the same thing over and over. That is boring tv. This story had run its course to the point the creator ENDED the comics knowing nothing new could be done. The series needs to realize it is gone on too long.

Adamk.. how was the season 9 ending ANY different than the season 8 ending after Neegan bashed Glenn and Abraham?? -- Known, popular, characters killed.. cliffhanger ending on "what will they do now".... It's the EXACT same plot.. same cliffhangers.... If you are "surprised" by anything at this point you either have a faulty memory or you've not seen the past episodes. I think Lincoln and Cohen were smart to get out when they did. Leave on top.. not when they are clearly Streeeeeeetccccchhhhhhiiiiinnnnnnggggg things for more seasons.

Season 9 blew. I never liked Fear the Walking Dead, but season 4 of Fear was better than season 9 of The Walking Dead, hands down. I'm not even excited anymore. I'm three bad episodes away from giving up on this one. At least the comics are still good. And the new spin-off series, God, I hope they don't screw that up. I need some decent zombie TV in my life.

I feel the show has lost it's edge.It was much more interesting when the plaque just happened.Watching them set up villages, starting over not so much. It's time to find out how it started.Did it ever tell you in the comics how it started?

They are probably good for 2 more seasons to finish off the comic book storylines after then, they really need to bow out on the show. As long as Daryl and Carol are still on board, so am I.
Season 9 was brilliant. . . Especially the second half. I still get nightmares from the last 2 episodes.

I would agree it has become anti-male, anti-white a great deal. Not entirely though. And it is oooooohhhh sooooo repetitive. I've already seen the season 1o premiere before it airs tomorrow.. and once again, they set it up as a bad guy the "sett'lers" need to battle in the upcoming episodes. It's essentially EXACTLY like the season 8 opener after Neegan killed Glenn and Abraham ----
Someone's confused.. the zombies on a wheel was in Fear.. which just ended it's worst season ever.. all that documentary style footage is a joke.. the world is crumbling and they are making video tapes 5 years later.. seriously?? What a moronic storyline. Yeah hunt for camcorder batteries.. sure.. that's important.... idiots.
