It is being reported that Netflix has cancelled GLOW after three seasons, reversing its original decision to renew the acclaimed comedy for a fourth and final season that was supposed to air sometime this year.

The sad news arrives over 14 months after the half-hour series aired its Season 3 finale - which will now serve as its series ender. Over the course of its run, the show garnered critical praise for its smart, but campy, storytelling and its strong ensemble cast.

Today's cancellation is the latest in a growing trend of networks walking back renewals months after handing them out due to changing circumstances - most of which have been attributed to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. GLOW was a few weeks into filming Season 4 when production was shutdown in March.

Based around the 1980s phenomenon "Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling", GLOW stars Alison Brie as Ruth Wilder, an actress in Los Angeles who, in an attempt to keep her dream of stardom alive, takes a gig portraying a female wrestler on a TV show. This thrusts her into the world of wrestling stardom alongside a group of Hollywood misfits, lead by a washed-up B-movie director who joins them on their journey to fame.
