The Ted Danson comedy will return for Season 2.
March 22, 2021
NBC announced today that Mr. Mayor has been picked up for a second season. The news comes just under a month after the comedy wrapped its freshman run, which ultimately garnered a mixed reception from critics. The show's original 13-episode order was cut short due to the ongoing pandemic, which is why Season 1 only released nine episodes in total.
Co-created by Tina Fey, the series stars Ted Danson as Neil Bremer, a retired businessman who runs for mayor of Los Angeles so he can shake up City Hall with some of his great ideas. But after pulling out a surprise victory, he has to figure out exactly what he stands for, gain the respect of his biggest critic, and connect with his teenage daughter - all while navigating the tricky political landscape of America's second weirdest city.
Look for Season 2 of Mr. Mayor as part of the 2021-2022 season.

Danson isn't funny now, and never was. He started out a has been, and went down steadily from there. At least the lead-in comments don't state that this is "good news" because it is not. It IS proof that one should never underestimate the stupidity of the American public.

I wanted to love this show but the first episode was painful. I tried the second and gave up. This show is unwatchable.

Steve Martin is also in his 70s and has a Tot. As for Danson, he may be 73, but he has aged well enough to have some flex in playing someone a bit younger. Depends on how well the performers pair up.

Ted Danson is 73. He should have a teenage granddaughter, not daughter. The age gap is just too much.

Not bad... I think the biggest misstep is in the naming of Hunter's character.. I mean.. RP.. as in "harpy" I suppose... but it's a horrible character name. And boy.. Danson's height makes Hunter appear to be a pixie or elf in size - again, I suppose following the "harpy" mindset.

This is a show that I really wanted to like out of sheer sympathy towards Ted Danson, but it's just not good…

This is one of the better new shows in a long time. It's funny and the actors are very well casted.
