No Season 6 for the action series reboot.
April 7, 2021
It is being reported that CBS has cancelled MacGyver after five seasons. The sad news comes ahead of action drama's upcoming finale on April 30, which will now serve as its series ender.
An updated take on the 1980s classic, the series was a surprise success for the network when it premiered in 2016. While initial expectations were decidedly low after an early panning by critics, viewers tuned in in solid numbers, helping CBS solidify its time slot over the course of its run.

The cancel culture wierdos had nothing to do with cancelling this gregg. It is a money decision. Unlike hawaii five o who called it quits due to its lead quiting. This was a ratings issue. As were most cancelations

About time.
That "Hollywood science" was just fingernails on a chalkboard.

I will definitely miss this one. I quite enjoyed it, but I did feel the marked change when George Eads left. I never felt Desi fit in all that well. There were quite a few other cast changes so it never settled in.

I watched this from the beginning, just like I did when the original show came out in 1985. While I enjoyed the reboot at times, I felt it was always missing something, maybe Richard Dean Anderson? I wish they had placed him as Angus’s Dad in the new series. Regardless, I’m thankful for the enjoyment I got from the series and wish the cast well in their future endeavors.

This lasted longer than I thought it would.... five seasons isn't bad. Around 100 episodes I think - impressive!

Greg is just being a troll. Don't feed the trolls. Everybody knows this was a money decision. The show was not making the company money and they moved on from it.
Remember if they say liberal, cancel culture, left wing, snowflake, or woke on this site it is 99% chance they are a troll. Do not feed them.

It was an okay show, though IMHO Meredith Eaton (Matty) was the anchor that made it easier to put up with a lot of other dumb stuff. The Desi-Mac-Riley drama was getting to be a bit much. I'll miss it, but not terribly.

This makes me a sad Panda. But the issue is TV tends to lean left, and CBS appears to have a more centrist or right leaning audience. It isn't cancel culture in this situation, but the network as a whole has an audience that prefers something else (see the comments on NCIS New Orleans -- many say they tuned out once it got too "woke." I think the same happened here, plus they managed to avoid being a victim of COVID, yet the ratings still tanked.) If I'm not mistaken Queen announced this would be the last season and if I'm also not mistaken it had a large part to do with COVID. Animal Kingdom I believe is TNT, which has been gradually pulling all it's scripted originals and giving any new ones a limited number of seasons, I think again also a victim of COVID.

@Gregg Hadwyn, Five seasons is a long time in the television world and it's a surprise that MacGyver made it that long. I am not sure what you mean with your reference to "stupid people" and "piece of the pie". And nowhere can I find any evidence of Cancel Culture relating to the end of this show.

@Gregg Hadwyn STFU. "Cancel culture" really? WTF is wrong with you. The show sucked that's why it got cancelled. Just like every other show you mentioned. All horrible garbage, with the exception of PBII, which never should have been made. Stop trying to be cool by using phrases wrong. You just look stupid.
