The dystopian drama scores another early pickup.
July 29, 2021
TNT announced today that Snowpiercer has been picked up for a fourth season. The good news comes early, as the dystopian drama just wrapped its sophomore run four months ago. Season 3 has yet to set a premiere date, but just recently finished shooting and is targeting a return in early 2022.
Season 1 of the series debuted in May 2020 and became the most-watched cable program of that month, making it TNT's best premiere in nearly two years. A solid freshman run was followed up with more success in Season 2, where it ranked as a Top 5 drama on cable TV with 21 million viewers across linear and digital platforms.
Adapted from the film and graphic novel series of the same name, Snowpiercer takes place seven years after the world became a frozen wasteland. Now the only surviving remnants of humanity inhabit a perpetually-moving train of 1001 cars that circles the earth. Within this new society, class warfare, social injustice, and the politics of survival are all in play.

Well, this is good news for once! Glad to see there are some companies producing a series that are willing to commit in advance to more than 1 season. It's always such a gamble to dedicate the time to watch, only to have them suddenly pull the plug and leave everything hanging. So, good on you, TNT!

Congratulations to all involved for the series' renewal. I personally stopped recording/watching the show. It's just not for me
