The drama will conclude its run this December.
November 17, 2021
USA Network announced today that The Sinner will be coming to an end after its current fourth season. The news comes with three episodes remaining in its run, which is set to conclude with an extended series finale on December 1.
Premiering in 2017, the show was first billed as a limited, close-ended series, but its solid performance kept it on the air, with each season focusing on an all-new crime with star Bill Pullman's Detective Ambrose acting as the perennial lead on each case.
In a message posted on social media, creator Derek Simonds stated that the acclaimed drama's finale will be completing Detective Ambrose's series-long arc as intended.

Was it worth it? ... I'm not sure ...

The Sinner returns tonight. Will the incredible suspense be over when Ambroses' fishing expedition finally gets him killed? I wouldn't dare predict - the suspense is killing me. If he dies before next Wednesday's extended series final episode, it will totally wreck me!
USA network, as we knew it, dies along with The Sinner. Chucky is the only current scripted show left, and Chucky is what you just left in the toilet.
USA network inherits most of the NBCSN (sports) programming in 2022 as the NBCSN channel no longer exists after Dec 31.
USA will now have wrestling, reality, real sports, and Chucky.

My mother used to said, “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all,” So, I’ll bite my tongue.

@lush mickey - Ambrose wouldn't move on and couldn't even drown, and now he's in yet another fine mess - holed up in murderer's den. If Ambrose has the balls then I can tolerate loose bunnies. I'm going to get through this all time greatest detective fatuity if it kills me.

Meh, Season 01 was fantastic!! But I could not get in the vibe of Season 2 at all, so stopped watching. I am indifferent about this show ending, but Season 01 will always have a place in my heart as one of the best seasons of a mystery show.

This was a great show. I was always interested in Detective Ambrose's dark side, he was such a well written, and intriguing character. All the pieces came together in this show. Probably one of the greatest mystery shows ever. Definitely, one of the greatest basic cable show ever. Let's hope this season's Emmys' remember.
