Paramount Network announced today that Yellowstone has been picked up for a fifth season. Coming a month after the conclusion of Season 4, the renewal is no surprise given the drama's continued strong performance.

Since its premiere in 2018, the show has slowly become a ratings hit for the cable network. After a modest start in Season 1, viewership has been growing every year since, with the fourth season actually doubling its average audience over Season 3.

Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, who are owners of a Montana ranch that is the largest of its kind in America. Kevin Costner plays patriarch John, who leads the Duttons as they constantly contend with attacks from land developers, conflicts with the country's first national park, and tense encounters with a neighboring Indian reservation as they fight to keep their land in the family.

Season 5 of Yellowstone is slated to begin production this spring, with a likely premiere in the fall.
