A sequel series to the hit drama is already in the works.

Paramount Network announced today that Yellowstone will be coming to an end after its current fifth season. The Yellowstone universe isn't ending though, as an untitled sequel from creator Taylor Sheridan has received a straight-to-series order for a premiere in December.
"Yellowstone has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits - from 1883 to Tulsa King, and I am confident our Yellowstone sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life," said Chris McCarthy, President & CEO Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios.
"The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off in another epic tale. We are thrilled to bring this new journey to audiences around the world," said David Glasser, CEO, 101 Studios.
Yellowstone's now-final season premiered last November, breaking records by garnering over 17 million total viewers. Season 5A aired eight episodes through to January, and Season 5B is now confirmed to conclude the series with six final episodes in November 2024.
Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, who are owners of a Montana ranch that is the largest of its kind in America. Kevin Costner plays patriarch John, who leads the Duttons as they constantly contend with attacks from land developers, conflicts with the country's first national park, and tense encounters with a neighboring Indian reservation as they fight to keep their land in the family.

At the end of Season 5 Episode 12(12-1-2024) during previews of next weeks episode13 they say ONLY ONE EPISODE LEFT UNTIL THE SEASON FINALE OF YELLOWSTONE.
Wouldn't they of said THE SERIES FINALE if it was the last episode of the series?

Here's what I find frustrating. Paramount+ which I subscribe to doesn't have the latest S5 episode (aired last night on CBS 11/10/24). I also don't see Yellowstone listed on the CBS app. I do see Yellowstone listed on the Peacock app (which is generally associated with NBC), but not the latest episode. I did see this latest S5 episode last night on live tv, at least. If I want to watch it again, I'll likely have to return to my San Jose house where I've got Xfinity with CBS and regular Paramount (which no longer has its own app) where that latest episode may have been recorded or perhaps I can see it again via some type of Xfinity X1 on-demand. Lastly, Prime Video will be glad to sell me the episode for $3:( It appears Paramount has sold the series to Peacock instead of keeping it for Paramount+. I suspect Peacock will someday be carrying the final 5 or so episodes in S5 but not today as I type this.

Come on Taylor Sheridan, keep Yellowstone going. This is the most popular show on TV. Please keep writing for it!

There is no show without costner. Series that do that new lead character stuff usually crumble. Ensemble leads shows can do well though with one lead going ..

Loved this show, i've been watching it since the pilot. Although i have to admit that the first 4-5 epi of season 1 was very ordinary , the story got a lot better and was very interesting.
With the rumours about Kevin Costner leaving the show , i'm not surprised that it got cancel .

I heard Taylor Sheridan was horrible at giving Kevin Costner and other actors a dedicated filming schedule and they couldn't do other projects. Not sure if true but makes sense, especially since that happens with other shows in the past and that is why the seasons get split in half and are so far apart from airing. Taylor Sheridan should stop creating new shows if he can't keep up.

This is one of those shows where the drama around making the show became bigger than the show itself. Given that the show is "Yellowstone" which was riveting its first few seasons, that's saying a lot.
But it's clear that Costner wanted out, so what were they going to do?
And just yesterday the Wall Street Journal published a big expose about how the Yellowstone dramas cost twice as much to make as other hit shows like Game of Thrones. A lot of the money is apparently going to Taylor Sheridan, who not only gets writer and producer fees but even gets the production to use and rent his 6666 ranch plus many other services. A studio can only pay that kind of money for gigantic hits. Once the ratings start to sag, the knives come out.
