The medical drama will finish its run with 13 final episodes.
March 14, 2022
It is being reported that New Amsterdam will be coming to an end on NBC after five seasons. Currently airing Season 4, the medical drama received a rare three-season pickup back in early 2020 during its sophomore run that will take it to Season 5.
The series premiered in 2018 as one of the top-rated new shows among the freshman class. While its viewership has fallen off quite a bit since then, it still garners decent ratings in its regular Tuesday night time slot.
New Amsterdam stars Ryan Eggold in his first lead role in a TV series since playing Tom Keen on 'The Blacklist' and its failed spin-off, 'The Blacklist: Redemption'. Eggold stars as Max Goodwin, a brilliant doctor who is New Amsterdam Hospital's newest medical director. Wanting to disrupt the status quo, he sets out to bypass bureaucracy and focus on providing patients with exceptional care while dealing with his share of problems in his personal life.
13 final episodes have been ordered to conclude the show's story during the 2022-2023 season. It will be its lowest episode count yet, bringing its total to 92 - just shy of the 100-episode milestone. For now, new Season 4 episodes are airing Tuesdays, with the season finale scheduled to air on May 24.

I'm amazed that the saga of 'Mad Max at the Hospital' is still being aired.

@Randy And here you are still dropping nasty comments about a show you quit watching 2 years ago. Why you so mad, bro?

I really enjoyed the first couple of seasons of this show and then it went crazy over the Woke/Diversity/Inclusion deep end and I had to stop watching it. I got tired of being preached at by it and how any straight white character became incompetent and had to have some non-white character rescue them.
Balance and representation are fine in a show, but they went 110% to the extreme of that. But that being said, I hope it has a good ending, because I really did enjoy some of the characters and their stories.

Too many gay subplots for me. Stopped watching 2 seasons ago.

They're not canceling it, they're ending it.

Bad call to cancel this show. This is far better than the junk reality shows. This show series is one of the few I watch anymore.

NA was a good show but NBC kept putting episodes so speradicaly that it became harde to follow. Large gaps in tv for no reason are bad. Okay take it off for olympics, then let it return, but why have a month off after that? No linear show is gonna survive that.

Eric…the show gets woke at times, but it’s subtle and nothing major in my book. I still love the show and most of the characters.
