The network will not air the drama's final season.
January 13, 2023
It is being reported by Deadline that TNT has opted not to air Snowpiercer's fourth and final season. The news comes seven months after word leaked that Season 4 would mark the end of the series and a year-and-a-half after it was last renewed.
The news does not come as a complete shock, as the dystopian drama was the last remaining original scripted series airing on the cable network. While the show's fourth season has already completed filming, TNT's decision is reportedly linked to tax write-offs at Warner Bros. Discovery. For its part, production company Tomorrow Studios is trying to find a new home for the fourth season as well as a potential prequel and sequel.
Adapted from the film and graphic novel series of the same name, Snowpiercer takes place seven years after the world became a frozen wasteland. Now the only surviving remnants of humanity inhabit a perpetually-moving train of 1001 cars that circles the earth. Within this new society, class warfare, social injustice, and the politics of survival are all in play.

According to Metacritic, TNT was supposed to air a new series on January 23rd called The Lazarus Project. It was supposed to be originally a UK series. My program guide does not show it premiering on that date and channel. With this news about Snowpiercer, it's no wonder.

I wonder how the contracts work. Can TNT play reruns (indefinitely) cut-rate because they bought the show in the first place? But reruns are unlikely when you withhold the final season. Someone else buying the show has to pick up the final season with probably all the others. Interesting bargaining positions but it would probably go for less than TNT would have had to pay if TNT picked up the final season. It would be interesting to know the production cost of the final season. I would think they'd be sure of a buyer. Maybe the final season stinks (although we know TNT stinks which is more likely the situation), Most unreleased movies are bad, but not all.

It is filmed. Why not show it somewhere? This also is the case for many unreleased films. .

What a shock.
Don't they have enough money from not paying any taxes thanks to their god cadet bonespurs.

Honestly, I'm amazed this show made it passed the pilot.

This is so disappointing. I recently got into this show and just last month I caught up with all three seasons. I was really looking forward to seeing the last season.

In the UK Snowpiercer is on Netflix which could end up buying the last season like they did with Manifest.

What's maybe even worse is it was " the last remaining original scripted series airing on the cable network." I knew TNT was swirling in the toilet, just didn't know it flushed.
Proof their viewership can be damned for all they care. I suspect Snowpiercer 4 has a fair chance of airing somewhere for those streaming somewhere.
