The sci-fi drama will conclude its run in 2024.

Paramount+ announced today that Star Trek: Discovery will be coming to an end after its upcoming fifth season. It has been nearly a year since the sci-fi drama last aired a new episode, and fans will have to wait about another year until it returns for its final season, which won't air until early 2024.
"Star Trek: Discovery is a perennial favorite on the service, near and dear to the hearts of legions of 'Star Trek' fans as well as all of us here at Paramount+," said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer at Paramount Streaming. "The series and its incredible cast and creatives ushered in a new era for 'Star Trek' when it debuted over six years ago, embracing the future of streaming with serialized storytelling, bringing to life deep and complex characters that honor Gene Roddenberry's legacy of representing diversity and inclusion, and pushing the envelope with award-winning world-building. This final season will see our beloved crew take on a new adventure and we can't wait to celebrate the series' impact on the franchise leading up to its final season early next year."
Taking place 10 years before the events of the original 'Star Trek' series, Star Trek: Discovery follows a brand new crew on a new ship as they take on missions to find undiscovered worlds and lifeforms during the Federation-Klingon war.
Season 5 will find Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are dangerous foes also on the hunt, desperate to claim the prize for themselves.

It was a mixed bag for me, hope it gets a satisfying ending.
As for those who say it is too PC or woke they certainly don't understand that Star Trek has always tackled such subjects as racism, sexism, sexuality, ethics, social classes and economics among others. There are many books covering those topics.

I was just about to subscribe to Paramount to watch Picard & Discovery. Probably will wait now. There's other shows I want to get through.
I did see the first 2 seasons of STD. The idea of the mycellium, something that never gets mentioned once in every subsequent show is just too hard to get past. Yes, I get that is a consequence of making prequels.
Maybe we'll get lucky that a re-made Babylon 5 and a new Stargate series, if they don't go down the woke path will be more enjoyable to watch.

This was such a pile of PC crap. When you go woke you go broke.

Horrible crap. No one likes this. Stupid. Tries to merge science with political ideology "The Science." Unwatchable for everyone but a few older and angry blue-haired white women on social media.
Picard season 3 not bad, but skip the first two seasons.

Finally - and only 4 1/2 seasons too late

You know... if you get rid of the relationships and woke agenda pushing, and just tell a sci-fi story, this might have gone on longer.
Huh?

Season 4 was miserable, emo-drama, not sci-fi...

I can't say I am upset, this Trek was way too woke. I'm fed up with non-sense and Hollywood's strong push on this non-sense. Hopefully Strange New Worlds will last and they learned their lesson.

The 1st season was interesting and had some clever storyline insights and twists; it then became a hodge-podge of various weak ideas, and dragged down the ST franchise, just like ST:Picard's season 2 and its awful idea for season 3 that targets the 60+ year-olds that are nostalgic about seeing the cast of ST:TNG back together (at least Frakes has been worthily busy.) I think Gene R.'s vision is absent from these 2 shows.
