Amazon announced today that Reacher has been renewed for a third season. The pickup is an early one, coming two weeks before the action drama returns for its sophomore run on Prime Video.

In a video posted to social media, star Alan Ritchson, who plays the titular character, revealed that he was "on the set of Season 3 of Reacher right now," and that production is "officially underway" on the next chapter.

Based on the books by Lee Child, the series follows former Army police corps major Jack Reacher, who roams the country as a drifter taking odd jobs and investigating suspicious situations. When he arrives in the town of Margrave, GA, Jack finds himself under arrest for the community's first homicide in decades. As he works to prove his innocence, a conspiracy emerges that leads to the town requiring Jack's help to get to the bottom of.

The upcoming second season will be based on the 11th novel in the series, 'Bad Luck and Trouble,' where Reacher receives a coded message relaying that members of his former Army unit are being killed off. He'll reunite with three of his ex-teammates to get to the bottom of who betrayed them and try to stop even more murders.
