Paramount+ wants more of the Kelsey Grammer comedy.
February 22, 2024
Paramount+ announced today that Frasier has been picked up for a second season. The news comes two months after the comedy wrapped its freshman run on the streaming service.
"Kelsey made a triumphant return as one of the most iconic and beloved characters on television," said Jeff Grossman, Executive Vice President, Programming, Paramount+. "The new series introduced Frasier to a whole new generation while reminding fans of Kelsey's truly timeless portrayal of Dr. Crane. We're so excited to see what the creative team and superb cast serve up for season two."
A sequel series to the hit 1990s sitcom of the same name, the half-hour series follows now-retired psychiatrist Frasier Crane as he enters the next chapter of his life, returning to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to explore, and some old dreams to finally fulfill.

Saw a few clips from Season One, but it didn't have the chemistry as the original. Now that David Hyde Pierce is no longer working on "Julia" perhaps he and Jane Leeves will return for Season 2. And if you want a Martin-style character, you could always get Wendie Malick to reprise her role as Ronee. She could own a Great Dane or St. Bernard that would be like a plus-sized Eddie for Frasier.

I really wanted this show to work, but it just doesn't have the magic of the original, nor the fortunate and inspired casting that made it a classic. It's so hard to do. And in truth, even the original series didn't recover after the tragic loss of David Angell on 9/11.

second half of season one was MUCH better than the first half.. first half was just full of "reaching" to try and find personalities

I'd rather watch reruns of Farmer Wants a Wife than this drivel.

I loved the original series - one of the best episodes was when Eddie was the progenitor of many jack Russell puppies.
I tried to watch this new show, but the acting and the dialogue was "forced". I just did not want to continue.
Sometimes making sequels is a huge mistake.

Not easy to engage fully in the first half of episodes but the 2nd half hit its stride far better, and the finale was a real throwback to the slapstick highs of the original run. Characters need some stronger fleshing out, as some seem to be annoyingly too OTT. Laugh track is also incredibly off-putting. Would benefit from a live studio audience, to help writers see what is truly landing.

I loved the original series, but this revival ain’t it. Literally the best characters on Frasier aren’t Frasier… it’s Niles, Daphne, and Martin. The show doesn’t work without them.

This should be on NBC as well

Good for them but honestly, I can't believe it. It's unwatchable.

They had a couple of episodes on it's original NBC.
Loved the 2 episodes, and wish they would have continued also on NBC.
Why put it on, when they knew that it would be taken off after the 2 episodes & put on Paramount
