No Season 3 for the Jeff Bridges drama.
December 17, 2024
It is being reported that FX has cancelled The Old Man after two seasons. The news comes less than two months after the drama wrapped its sophomore run. While the show was generally well-received, an extended break of over two years between seasons, due to the writers and actors strikes, likely factored into a drop in the ratings in Season 2.
Based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Perry, the series stars Jeff Bridges as Dan Chase, a former CIA agent who has been living off the grid for years. When he realizes an unknown assassin is targeting him, Dan is forced out of hiding and finds himself chased by a friend from his past.

I am totally fed up with this bul**it! What a way to thank the viewers who have faithfully followed a series through two seasons, and even waiting out the long pause between those seasons...by cancelling it mid-story, leaving it hanging without an ending! I swear, a guy starts to feel like the only way to be guaranteed an ending is to wait until a series ends, then once you know it's been given a proper ending, go back and stream it on demand from the beginning. What a p**soff!

I agree with Howard. Why leave things hanging without a renewal? The creators and FX should both be ashamed of themselves. A 2-part miniseries could wrap everything up easily. Nothing will happen with this show. Another good show with no ending. This is why I tell people to check out The Wire, St. Elsewhere, and even Deadwood had a movie to finish their canceled show 12 years later, but we still got closure. I am pissed for being duped again.

This is why it is a waste of time to watch anything anymore until you know if it has an ending. Ended on a serious cliffhanger. What a joke!

Sad to see this show cancelled. I enjoyed the storyline.
