No Season 3 for the comedy revival.
January 17, 2025
It is being reported that Paramount+ has cancelled Frasier after two seasons. The news comes two months after the comedy wrapped its sophomore run on the streaming service.
A sequel to the hit 1990s sitcom of the same name, the half-hour series stars Kelsey Grammer as the now-retired psychiatrist Frasier Crane as he enters the next chapter of his life, returning to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to explore, and some old dreams to finally fulfill.
Word is that producer CBS Studios will be shopping the show to other outlets in hopes of finding it a new home. Leading possibilities are Prime Video and Hulu, both of which carry the original Frasier's library of episodes.

Sad news, I liked it.

I'm not surprised. It was a miracle that the original "Frasier" was so brilliant and successful.
A couple of years ago I rewatched the original "Frasier" over the course of several months and it retrospect became clear to me that the original series started to go downhill with the unfortunate death of showrunner David Angell on 9/11. And that was the problem with the current version of "Frasier", nobody the caliber of David Angell bringing everything together.
What we had was an unfortunate shadow of itself that couldn't be sustained even with characters like Roz coming back. There were some nice touches, like Roz's adult daughter being played by Kelsey Grammer's actual daughter and the prospect of a romance between Frasier and Patricia Heaton's character. But it lacked the writing brilliance of the original.

Lame reboot of the original show. Not to mention he is back in Boston and does not bump into Sam, Woody, Norm, Cliff or Carla? Dumb reboot that was not remotely original. It replaced his dad with a blue-collar son. John Mahoney cannot be replaced.

Kinda surprised to be honest, but the final episode was a good sendoff anyway. No cliffhanger, everything wrapped up. Didn't expect it to be cancelled though.
I do hope it gets the new network it's looking for. But if it doesn't, the ending was satisfying enough.
