The new cop drama will premiere next season.
February 18, 2025
The Blue Bloods universe is expanding. CBS announced today that a straight-to-series order has been given for a new drama starring Donnie Wahlberg for the 2025-2026 broadcast season.
Tentatively titled 'Boston Blue,' the series will see Wahlberg reprise his role as NYPD officer Danny Reagan as he takes a position with the Boston PD. His new job will pair him with detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.
The spin-off order makes sense, as Blue Bloods had a long and successful run on the network that lasted 14 years. A Friday night staple, it garnered healthy ratings that consistently made it the night's #1 primetime program. In all, it aired 293 episodes.

Yes I'll watch it, but come on, just Danny. And he's in Boston? love to see how they explain that one. Don't know what CBS is doing. Axing good shows IE( Blue Bloods, FBI International and Most Wanted} Can't wait to see what they replace them with.

I will give it a chance. I loved BB and think it was VERY stupid on CBS's part to cancel a top-rated show like that! I mean the entire cast didn't want it to end, never mind the fans! I do think that they should rethink the whole Boston thing though, Danny wouldn't leave his whole life in NYC and Biaz; I think, they were going to become a couple. But who knows? The show may work. But, honestly, I think CBS should just bring back BLUE BLOODS! :-) But I'll give this spin-off a try.

I agree with a lot of comments here. They are trying to get as cheap BB, why pay 7 established characters when you can get away with just 1. It will fail. What made that series is the weekly family dinner table scene. What's Danny going to do.... TV dinner and talk to himself. Pathetic. Does anyone believe that the Danny character would move to Boston, the inducement would have to be a big promotion / position. Not at all believable.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?! CBS couldn't stay loyal to the original show, which was so highly rated and popular, but you can do a cheap spin-off? Ridiculous. Danny would not leave NYC, move to Boston and leave his whole life and family behind. Plus we don't get to see him with his partner, who was so awesome. This is whack. I won't be watching. Hey CBS, you should have stuck with BB -- a sure thing.

I’ll give this a chance. I watched every episodes of BB and almost didn’t watch season 2 because S1 was just so-so but then it got its footing and became a hit, so who knows this might end up being a hit too, but it’s probably unlikely.

I'll give it a chance. Being from New England I hope they make it as authentic as the original BB.

I am not in at all. Danny is going to leave his whole life behind? Horrible idea.

Oh boy, everyone's least favorite character in a spinoff.
Pass.
No one wants a solo show with any of the ensemble (a lawyer show with Erin would be extremely boring, as an example). A few tv movies every year or so would've made a lot more sense. We could even jump ahead a few years to Jamie and Eddie's baby.
CBS is really running out of ideas, aren't they?

What made Blue Bloods so good was the family dynamic. There are a lot of police procedurals out there and this new spin off sounds like it will be just another one. I will give it a shot, who knows. Blue Bloods had a rough start and started down the procedural path but the cast revolted!
