No Season 6 for the Queen Latifah drama.
May 2, 2025
It is being reported that CBS has cancelled The Equalizer after five seasons. The news comes ahead of this Sunday's finale, which will now serve as the drama's series ender. The show was the last scripted series at the network to have its fate decided for the 2025-2026 season.
The show stars Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall, an enigmatic single mother with a mysterious background who utilizes her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. Known as The Equalizer to a trusted few, she is an anonymous guardian angel and defender of the downtrodden, who will stop at nothing in her pursuit of personal redemption.

I really liked this show. I know that people think it is not realistic but if you go to the real world and look at the FBI, Police or any law enforcement agents they don't look like the actors on TV. They look like overweight Americans. I like Queen, but I do wonder about how short her daughter in the show is given that most of the family is taller. For me the lead for Seal Team was a harder pill to swallow as far as casting given his age and lack of physical ability. I think he would not be handle a long hike let alone the stress of battle. I think that show got cancelled as well.

Let's face it, the bar for CBS programming is low at best. The production reflects their budget massively. As for the show, it was doomed in my opinion from the start. With these types of shows, you go in knowing you have to suspend your disbelief etc. However, the main character is supposed to be tactically trained and likeable. Her lack of activity and athletic skills are quite obvious. Why she was cast for a very physical position is beyond me. In my opinion, they were better off going with a no name actor or lesser paid and would have been more successful. Frankly surprised it lasted this long!

Best comment, hands down: "How could a show with an overweight black lesbian last this long?"

What i find so "weird" about this cancellation is that not two weeks prior there is talk about a possible spin off in Atlanta (see that episodes 2 from the end) and then the next night that spin off idea is killed and 48 hrs later there wa already the "confirmation" that the original got canned a well.
Have to agree there was a lot of "overcorrecting" when it come to racism, but thats just if you look at it through political lenses. Me as a non American really just watch it as an hour of good guy chasing bad guy and in the meantime oogle at De Leon Hayes and 2 hrs later i forgot what the episode was about...

@ Arthur Dent
The family stuff was what made the show wholly interesting for my family. Sad to see it go.

SPOILERS ahead.
I've just finished the series-finale-episode and commend the nice ending for the stars/characters involved. I prepared myself to see multiple cliff-hangers as I thought the episode would have been written without prior/possible knowledge of it being the last episode of the series, but was pleasantly surprised to see everybody had a happy ending.
I did see on today's IMDB research that neither "Dante/Tory" or "Mel/Liza" had anything yet forthcoming, but have high hopes this will be remedied soon. The others, already had future projects in-the-works.
Congratulations on the five seasons.

The family stuff made this show wholly uninteresting.

If you think this is too woke why were you even watching it. Also tell the truth in every other crime drama you watch if there is a black person they are guilty and all the white people are innocent.
